Just to back up what I was saying about Thora Birch, here’s another Rotten Tomatoes-sourced graphic. It must be sort of depressing to see your career reduced to graph form... I guess mine would just be a continuous flatline!
Meanwhile, Ricci’s new flick Speed Racer, failed to even come close to Iron Man, in terms of box office and critical acclaim. Her overall aggregate career rating is also in the low thirties. Harsh.
I’ll attach this to the original post as well, rather than simply editing out the comment... but for the sake of my own karma, I’d just like to correct something I wrote earlier. Christina Ricci does not look at all “skeletal” in the final season of Ally McBeal. Obviously when it was broadcast I was expecting her to look the way she had in Buffalo 66, and there is a marked contrast... but all she’d done is slim down and tone up. I was wrong and stupid and mean to use the word “skeletal”.
Also, the final season isn’t nearly as “pointless” as I recalled. It’s true that too many new characters wander in and out at random, but again it was probably just the hangover from Robert Downey Jr’s fantastic work in the fourth season that made it seem such a let down. It’s also cool to see that some of the random recurring actors have gone on to bigger things, such as James ‘X-Men’ Marsden and Hayden ‘Bring It On: All Or Nothing’ Panettiere. Personally I could have done without Dame Edna Everage’s “acid reflux” schtick, but it’s still quite an enjoyable watch... not as good as the earlier seasons, and Lisa Nicole Carson was very much missed, but still pretty good.
